Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 887

Roman and Grandpa Valente had returned to their mansion in the Capital despite the Countess’s request for them to stay back for another night.

Though the old man wished to stay behind to spite his son-in-law whose sullen face he had noticed, Roman once again took up the role of the peacemaker as he apologized to his aunt, stating that it would be difficult to comply with her wishes.

He had seen the grumbling look on his uncle’s face and did not want to disturb the tall, muscular man any further.

Thus the two men from the Valente family returned to their mansion soon after tea time had come to an end.

Howard had joined his father as they headed to the Office together where they planned to discuss certain matters about his training as the heir apparent.

Meanwhile, Raylene had announced that she too was busy with something, though she did not explain any further, and soon disappeared from the room.

.....

In this way, only Yvonne had walked back to her room while the others headed their separate ways.

Once she reached her corridor, she found Jax waiting for her arrival and held the door open as soon as she got close.

The little girl nodded before the two walked into her bedroom and Jax shut the door then moved towards her in the next second.

Yvonne took her seat on her work desk placed next to the window where the darkening sky was visible while Jax stood opposite her with his arms behind his back.

“What news do you have for me?” She inquired while looking right at him.

Jax appeared only when he was summoned and the only exception to this behavior was when he had something important to reveal to her.

Since she had not called for him, it was obvious that he had some news that needed her attention.

As expected, Jax nodded his head before preparing to disclose everything he had just heard from a colleague working with him.

“Duchess Tanner is planning a party at the end of this week.” He revealed the news he had just received when his Boss was enjoying her tea time with her family.

Since Jax was asked to keep an eye on all gossip related to noble families in Amarthea, he had been doing his best to stay updated about their activities.

He was already close to the servants in this house and learned many useful pieces of information from them.

This close relationship helped him further as the servants who headed outside the estate often would bring back whatever gossip that caught their ear in the Capital.

Today as well, the carriage driver who had gone with the Countess to the place of her appointment and brought her back had gained a large sum of gossip for Jax.

“The reason for the Madame to head outside was to plan for the Duchess’s party.” He then went on to explain everything he had heard from this servant who had accompanied the Countess today.

Though the reason for the Countess to head out was to help the Duchess plan for her tea party, she and a few other noble ladies had met at the Jorbin estate instead.

“The Madames from the Tanner, Kiron, and MacIntyre families were also present along with Boss’s mother.” Jax disclosed the other ladies who had been invited by Marchioness Jorbin to her estate.

The Jorbins weren’t residents of Amarthea until recently so only a few people had been able to visit their estate.

Therefore, the Marchioness had taken this opportunity to invite them into her home for a tea party where they could bond and get to know each other better.

They also discussed how Duchess Tanner’s upcoming tea party needed to be organized during this event among many other topics.

“The driver stayed there long enough to get acquainted with the other servants in the Jorbin household.” He added with a smirk as this was how he had gained such useful information from the driver.

It was a servant from the Tanner family who had accompanied his Madame to the Jorbin estate who revealed this information about the party to this driver.

Later on, a maid from the Jorbin family came by to serve them snacks while they waited and she too spoke a few words before leaving.

“Apparently Countess Blaise was also invited to this gathering but she did not show up.” He rubbed his chin while wondering what could have gone wrong.

Other than the Madame from the MacIntyre family, who was a Baroness, the rest of the guests were of prestigious statuses, and getting to know them would never be a disadvantage.

Even Baroness MacIntyre was a profitable acquaintance to make as her husband’s business had been booming ever since his cafe had prepared the desserts for Princess Felicia’s birthday celebration a few years ago.

Everyone knew that his Boss, Miss Yvonne, was the one who had helped the Baron with that recipe after a contract was signed between them.

Ever since, the St. Claire and MacIntyre families had become close business-wise as well.

Therefore, Jax saw no harm in attending this party but it appeared that Countess Blaise thought otherwise.

When Yvonne saw the confusion evident on his face, she shook her head which attracted his attention.

“She did not wish to be the center of attention because of what her husband did.” She explained her deduction for the Countess’s recent disappearance from all social obligations.

While the frequency of tea parties being organized had reduced after the initial events that took place six months ago, there were still a few being held sporadically.

The Countess would attend all parties organized by higher nobles in the past but had not done so ever since the embarrassing incident that occurred at the Leopold tea party.

No woman would want to answer questions about her husband’s infidelity and his sincerity towards the other woman in his life.

Therefore, Yvonne was leaning towards this being the reason for her recent absence.

However, these matters had nothing to do with her so she decided to move on to something else that she was keen to learn about.

“How much have you progressed?” She questioned him about the aspect that mattered to her.

Jax was pondering over her speculations earlier, feeling that she might be right when he heard her next query.

He knew exactly what she was talking about and thus straightened his back while looking at her.

“Everything will be ready ahead of time.” He assured her that she need not worry about the task she had handed over to him as he would not let her down.

Yvonne was pleased with this response but frowned when she thought of something else.

Her uncle had not yet sent the latest supply of items the Hagen family had prepared according to her instructions.

The next step of her plan to lead CLOVER into the noble market depended on these items so their immediate arrival in the Capital was of great importance.

‘Looks like I have to contact him soon.’ She sighed while rubbing the space between her brows.

She had not attempted to get in touch with her uncle Marcus after learning from her grandfather that the couple was enjoying their time alone at the Valente estate.

However, now it seemed that she would have to disturb their time together for CLOVER’s sake.
